Consumer Hotline
The Consumer and Environment Protection Unit Hotline is (619) 533-5600. We assist victims of, or witnesses to, consumer or environmental crimes in San Diego. Certain crimes or activities, such as those involving licensed or unlicensed professionals, are investigated by other agencies. If another agency has responsibility for investigating your type of complaint, we will refer you to them. Scroll down to see Consumer Referrals for agencies that have responsibility for certain kinds of complaints.
The Hotline is answered by a Unit representative Monday through Friday, 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. Recorded information is available on the Hotline 24 hours a day.
Although we prefer that you call us first and speak with a Unit representative, you may mail your written complaints to:
Office of the City Attorney
Consumer and Environmental Protection Unit
1200 Third Avenue, Suite 700
San Diego, CA 92101-4103
If you send a written complaint, please be sure to fill out a Complaint Form and provide copies of supporting documents. You may also email your complaint to cepu@sandiego.gov, but you will need to provide copies of your supporting documents by mail.
