Kevin Faulconer was elected as the Councilmember for District 2 on January 10, 2006. He is chair of the Audit Committee, vice chair of the Committee on Budget & Finance, and is a member of the Public Safety & Neighborhood Services Committee and the Natural Resources & Culture Committee.
Prior to being elected, Kevin was vice president of a leading public affairs firm where he managed complex projects within strict budget guidelines. Kevin brought these skills to City Hall where he is working diligently to ensure our tax dollars are spent wisely and city departments are held accountable to taxpayers.
As a volunteer on the bipartisan Citizen's Charter Reform Committee, Kevin helped lay the early foundation for structural reform and accountability at City Hall. He served on the City of San Diego Park & Recreation Board where he helped enhance parks and open space throughout the city. As chair of the Mission Bay Park Committee, Kevin led the fight for clean water and protecting our bay's natural resources, just as he continues to do today. During his tenure on the committee, he uncovered $17 million in park revenues that were misdirected to other programs. As a councilmember, one of his top priorities is to ensure money generated in Mission Bay Park stays in the park.
Kevin is a graduate of San Diego State University where he served as the student body president. He and his wife, Katherine, a small business owner in the Gaslamp District, live in Point Loma with their children Jack and Lauren.
