Crossroads Redevelopment
Crossroads redevelopment was approved by the San Diego City Council on May 6, 2003.
Redevelopment is a tool the City Of San Diego can use to bring extra money and economic opportunity into the College Area, Eastern Area, and Fox Canyon. Usually, when property owners pay property taxes, only 12% of that comes back to the City. However, under redevelopment, 66% of that comes back to the redevelopment area!
This money must be used in the area can be used to clean up older, neglected buildings, install landscaped medians, and more. This project is now getting underway and will be used along major corridors: El Cajon Boulevard, University Avenue, College Avenue, and Streamview Drive.
