Land Development Manual
The Land Development Manual provides information to assist in the processing
and review of applications. Volume I establishes requirements for the
submittal of applications, including the identification of required fees
and deposits. Volume II establishes development standards and guidelines
used in the review of applications. The appendices include a number of
manuals that were originally adopted in advance of the Land Development
Manual. Each will be formally incorporated into the Land Development
Manual at the time future amendments are processed.
Proposed Revisions to the Land Development Manual
Revisions to Landscape Standards and Notice of 30 Day Comment Period
The City of San Diego is in the process of revising its Landscape Regulations and Landscape Standards to comply with the California Water Conservation in Landscaping Act. This is proposed to be accomplished in two phases. Phase-one focuses on revisions to the City’s Landscape Standards and Phase-two will focus on amendments to the City’s Landscape Regulations. This information concerns only phase-one revisions to the City’s Landscape Standards. The draft revisions to the Landscape Regulations (Phase Two) will begin after Phase One and will also be made available for public review and comment.
The proposed changes to the Landscape Standards generally reinforce the City’s existing standards for water conservation. Additionally, in compliance with California Water Conservation in Landscaping Act, additional standards have been incorporated that will apply to new construction including. Please e-mail any comments to dsdldc@sandiego.gov and include the word “landscape” in the subject line. The review period is 30 days from the noticed date on the Notice of Availability. The 30 day public review period for commenting on the water conservation revisions to the Landscape Standards ended on April 30, 2009. The link below identifies changes to the Landscape Standards that were made as a result of public comment. The changes are highlighted in yellow to assist the reader. Please note that the proposed modifications relate only to water conservation issues. Comments received on other areas of the Landscape Standards will be reviewed and addressed in a separate update/reorganization of the document.
