As a San Diego Police Officer, you'll be working in a City with unmatched variety in recreation, entertainment and lifestyle.

A Firefighter I is assigned to the training division in Fire Operations and receives extensive on-the-job training while learning the full range of fire fighting operations.

A Lifeguard I will work in all aspects of Lifeguarding from Point Loma to Blacks Beach. Seasonal Lifeguards duties vary from water observation, to medical aids, to Jet Ski rescue, while training to become a full-time Lifeguard.

The Police Department offers internships to college students on an ongoing basis.

Fire-Rescue Department offers two job opportunities under the classification of Paramedic I and Paramedic II.

The Junior Lifeguard Program is open to girls and boys ages 9 through 17 years. The program includes ocean and beach safety, lifesaving techniques and procedures, first aid and CPR, development of swimming skills, body surfing, body boarding, surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, volleyball, other beach games, and competition events with other junior lifeguard programs.
