The purpose of the Major Gifts and Philanthropy Planning Program is to create charitable partnerships between the City and civic-spirited individuals, families and companies to strengthen and assure the vibrancy of the San Diego community.
Each generation of San Diego's government, civic, business and community leaders have forged a dynamic City, international in character and anchored at its roots by a rich historical foundation of charitable commitment.
To assist donors, the City makes available several easy and creative ways to accomplish their intentions, including: life time contributions, legacy (also known as estate) donations, and special charitable trusts. The Major Gifts and Philanthropy Planning Program works closely with each donor to assure that the donor's priorities are fully recognized, as well as designs a clear strategy for the fulfillment of the donor's objective(s) consistent with the City's commitment to the community.
