| Community OutreachCommunity involvement is what makes this program work. In the City of San Diego, CERT San Diego built its first active CERT teams in some of the areas hit hardest in the 2003 Cedar Fire: Scripps Ranch, Tierrasanta and the Navajo/San Carlos areas. We have added 12 other regional CERT teams, such as Beach CERT (Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Point Loma), Mid City CERT (University Heights, Normal Heights, Hillcrest, Talmadge), North Coastal CERT (La Jolla, University City, Carmel Valley, UTC), North City CERT (Clairemont, Serra Mesa, Bay Ho, Mission Valley), Southeast San Diego CERT(Encanto, Lincoln Park, Emerald Hills), North Inland CERT (Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos), Q-CERT (Qualcomm in Sorrento Valley) and the CERT San Diego Ham Radio team. Other teams are in the works. Please join us. Our goal is to build active CERT teams in as many San Diego communities as possible and to train 1% of the City's population, or 13,000 people over time. We are actively recruiting, training and coordinating community teams throughout the City of San Diego, with the help of City Council offices, community groups, corporations and civic organizations. If you would like a presentation about CERT San Diego for your civic, community, church or business meeting, please email cert@sandiego.gov or call (619) 692-4988. CERT San Diego collaborates with CERT programs in other cities throughout the state and serves as a lead agency for the CERT Council of San Diego County. CERT San Diego serves residents of the City of San Diego, the 8th largest city in America, approximately half of San Diego county, the fourth largest county in America and employs the county's only full time CERT Program Manager. If you do not live or work in the City of San Diego, there are other CERT programs in San Diego County in cities such as El Cajon, Chula Vista, Del Mar and Oceanside. Visit County of San Diego CERT Contacts to find your local CERT program. |
