Class Schedule
The 21st CERT Academy is now FULL. We are no longer accepting applications. The dates for the next academy will be posted in November. Please check back then for the dates. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you at our next academy!
CERT San Diego academies offer a 6 week/26 hour curriculum and certification. A flexible schedule allows students to attend Thursday nights or Saturday mornings. CERT graduates wear distinctive green vests and hats and carry ID cards identifying their certification to authorities. The program also offers Business Emergency Response Team (BERT) classes and community team building and emergency equipment preparation.
The interactive training process involves both classroom and practical activities. Students attend weekly 4-hour classes on the following subjects: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Search and Rescue, CERT Organization, Incident Command System, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism. The final class is a disaster drill in which all students participate in a demonstration of their newly acquired skills.
