The City of San Diego's emergency medical services (EMS) provider, San Diego Medical Services Enterprise devotes hundreds of hours a year to educating residents about the City's 9-1-1 system and how to use 9-1-1 appropriately. Since its inception in 1997, San Diego Medical Services Enterprise has performed more than 3,000 hours of community outreach in San Diego.

San Diego Medical Services Enterprises' community outreach includes:

  1. Community Group Presentations. San Diego Medical Services Enterprise's multi-media presentation explains the City's innovative public-private partnership and what happens when a 9-1-1 call is placed.

  2. School Presentations. San Diego Medical Services Enterprise visits area schools giving students the opportunity to tour an ambulance and, utilizing a 9-1-1 simulator, learn the appropriate use of 9-1-1.

  3. Community Partnerships. San Diego Medical Services Enterprise paramedics and emergency medical technicians participate in a number of community health fairs, flu clinics, parades and other events.

  4. Blood Pressure Exams & CPR Classes. San Diego Medical Services Enterprise provides blood pressure exams as part of its "Heart Smart" outreach to communities. San Diego Medical Services Enterprise can also assist organizations in providing CPR courses for its employees or members.

  5. Education Campaigns. Besides educating the public about 9-1-1, San Diego Medical Services Enterprises, along with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department provides a Senior Burn and Fall Prevention program. The program, developed by the National Fire Prevention Association, teaches San Diego seniors how to protect themselves from life threatening injuries.
