Spray and Pay Rewards Program

The Spray and Pay Program is a partnership between the San Diego Police Department, the Office of the City Attorney, and the Neighborhood Code Compliance Department's Graffiti Control Program.

How the Program Works

The City's Spray and Pay Rewards Program rewards citizens up to $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of graffiti vandals. Spray and Pay Rewards Program brochures and claim forms are available at all City of San Diego Community Service Centers and the San Diego Police Department storefronts and satellite offices, or by contacting the Graffiti Control Program hotline at (619) 525-8522.

Complete the Claim for Reward Form (PDF: 7K) then send the completed form to:

Office of the City Attorney
Spray and Pay Program
1200 Third Avenue, Suite 700
San Diego, CA 92101

Remember, vandalism is a crime. If you see a graffiti crime in progress, call 911. To be eligible for a reward through the program you must disclose your name. After submitting a claim form you will be notified of the status of your claim. If rejected, you will be notified. However, if accepted, rewards will only be granted after the suspect is convicted or confesses. In some cases, it may take up to a year from the date of the incident before you receive your reward. Remember the amount is up to $500. The amount of reward will be decided on a case by case basis and may take into consideration the amount of property damage involved. Presently the reward money comes from tax dollars. However, in all cases the City will require the graffiti vandal to reimburse the City for the reward money.
