Who maintains the channel behind my property? If the channel is in a drainage easement then the Street Division would maintain it. If not, the property owner is responsible for maintenance

I have a drain pipe on my property. Who cleans it? If the drain is in a drainage easement, the Street Division will clean it.

How often does the city clean the drains in my neighborhood? Our goal is to inspect and clean drains every 24 months. Contact us at 619-527-7500 for specifics or use the Service Request application to notify us.

What do I do if water is seeping from underground onto my property? Contact us at 619-527-7500. Most seepage is from natural run-off and the property owner is responsible for controlling it.

What do I do if I see soneone dumping things into the drain? Contact the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Hotline at 619-235-1000.

How do I get bars put on the drainage structure to prevent something or someone from getting into it? City standard requires no obstructions be placed on drainage structures. Curb inlets must be greater than eight inches in height before bars can be requested.

My neighbor is constructing a fence between our properties. How do I find out if a permit has been obtained? Contact the Neighborhood Code Compliance Department at 619-236-5500.

Street Sweeping

What day is my street swept? Call our Sweeping Hotline at 619-527-3482 or find out your sweeping day from the Street Sweeping Schedules.

What should I do on street sweeping day? The City depends on residents voluntarily moving vehicles off the street on street sweeping day so the street can be swept most efficiently. Do not place anything in the gutter as large items or piles can clog the sweeper.
