Toilet Rebate Program Information

As of July 1, 2008, residential and commercial properties may qualify for approved water conserving toilet rebates. These rebates are available through Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's "SoCal Water $mart" and "Save-a-Buck" Rebate Programs. Before-the-sale Vouchers are no longer offered. Rebate amounts may vary between various water agencies and the rebate amount listed on the rebate application may not reflect additional funding available to San Diego County residents.

High-Efficiency toilets... Use 20% less water per flush than the Ultra-Low-Flush (1.6 gpf) models. Can save over 275,000 gallons of water over the life-time of the toilet (by replacing a 3.5 gpf or higher model toilet). Some HET models utilize two different flushes - one for liquids and one for solid matter.

Residential Rebates

The following toilet rebates are available for City of San Diego Residential Water Customers:

• $200: High-Efficiency Toilet (HET) Rebates are available for replacing 3.5 gallons per flush (gpf) or higher volume toilets (in general 1991 and older model toilets) with approved High-Efficiency (1.28 gpf) or Dual Flush Toilets. Note: The rebate amount listed on the rebate application may not reflect the additional funding available to City of San Diego water customers).
  
  
• $30: High-Efficiency Toilet (HET) Upgrade Rebates are available for replacing Ultra-Low-Flush Toilets (1.6 gpf - in general 1992 and newer models) with approved High-Efficiency (1.28 gpf or less) or Dual Flush Toilets. New construction also qualifies for $30 Rebates.
  
  
• $60: Multi-Family Ultra-Low-Flush Toilet (ULFT) Rebates are available for replacing 3.5 gpf or higher volume toilets (in general 1992 and older toilets) with Ultra-Low-Flush Toilets (1.6 gpf). These $60 ULFT rebates are only offered through December 31, 2008.

Commercial, Industrial, Institutional (CII) Rebates

The following Toilet Rebates are available for City of San Diego Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional (CII) water customers:

• $200: High-Efficiency Toilet (HET) Rebates are available for replacing 3.5 gallons per flush (gpf) or higher model toilets (in general 1991 and older model toilets) with approved High-Efficiency (1.28 gpf or less) or Dual Flush Toilets.
  
  
• $30: High-Efficiency Toilet (HET) upgrade Rebates are available for replacing 1.6 gpf Ultra-Low-Flush Toilets (in general 1992 and newer models) with approved High-Efficiency (1.28 gpf or less) or Dual Flush Toilets. New construction also qualifies for $30 rebates.
  
  
• $135: Ultra-Low-Flush Toilet Rebates are available for replacing 3.5 gpf or higher model toilet with Ultra-Low-Flush Toilets (ULFT - 1.6 gpf or less, in general 1991 and older model toilets). This $135 ULFT rebate is only offered through December 31, 2008.
